One of our favorite times of year to fish around Bozeman is the spring. Book a trip with us in April or May and let our guides show you great fishing opportunities. The rivers are less crowded this time of year and we have great dry fly fishing. Streamer fishing for big browns and rainbows is excellent on a float trip on the Madison, Missouri or Yellowstone rivers. Or do a combination float/wade fishing trip on those same rivers. Nymph fishing or using a dry dropper can also be very productive. If you like smaller waters then do some wade fishing on the Gallatin River or area spring creeks.

Spring hatches providing good dry fly fishing include Baetis, March Browns, Skwallas, midges and the famed Mother’s Day caddis hatch. The Mother’s Day caddis hatch can produce some of the finest dry fly fishing of the year on local waters. This hatch brings up even the largest of trout to feed on the surface. April 25 through May 5 gives you the best chance to hit this hatch just right!
