The Yellowstone River is the longest free-flowing river in the lower U.S., over 678 miles from start to finish. The upper portion contains some of the greatest trout habitat found in the country. The Yellowstone Park section is home to an abundant population of 14”-18” native Yellowstone cutthroat, while the Montana section has rainbow, brown, cutthroat, and cutbow in the 12”-24” range. Below the park you will experience many water conditions on a float trip, from big canyon water to calm, spring creek like currents. A drift boat is the most effective vehicle for exploring this large western freestone river.Yellowstone River Fly Fishing Report |
