Our Territory

The Setting

cutthroat_fadeOur fly shop and guide service is situated at the threshold of the broadest selection of premier trout fisheries in the U.S.! Three subspecies of cutthroat, rainbows, cutbows, browns, brookies, goldens, lake trout and grayling all reside within the vast watershed of Greater Yellowstone. The Earth's largest population of inland cutthroat trout inhabits area waters. Although cutthroats, grayling and whitefish are the area's only true native game fish, stocking of non-natives in Montana and Yellowstone was phased out long ago. Today's fisheries are wild and self-sustaining, including both natives and transplanted species from the past. We practice and encourage catch-and-release in order to protect and preserve this valuable resource, further maintaining and enhancing the caliber of fishing found in the area today.

Bison_fadeThe Greater Yellowstone Area encompasses 18 million acres in Idaho, Montana and Wyoming. It contains the largest concentration and greatest diversity of mammals in the lower 48 states, and is the most extensive intact ecosystem! Yellowstone, the world's first national park, makes up 2.2 million acres of this expansive wilderness. The Park is the heart and soul of Greater Yellowstone, which possesses the greatest collection and most dynamic hydrothermal features on the face of the planet!
